Happy Canada Day! What a spectacularly beautiful day to get outdoors and celebrate all that is Canadian! We packed up our minivan and headed west and south to Millarville Alberta to celebrate the 111th running of the horses! We took a friend of Jacobs with us and were surprised that it cost $10 each to get in. Ouch!
We brought a huge picnic lunch and got set up on the infield with our umbrella.
We wandered around checking out all the vendors and purchased some vegetables.
I went to the horse betting booths and placed numerous bets to the tune of $19 for the first three races.
We met up with Krista's sister Jessica and family and watched the races. All the picks I made from the first three races were BANG ON! I cashed in my tickets and made $75! That made the entrance fee a lot more palitable!
The boys played some mini golf and wandered around while we visited some folks in the beer gardens before heading back to Calgary.
Nicholas and I dropped off Krista and Jacob and headed to McMahon stadium for an evening of football. We were invited to the Tysowski Tailgate in the SW corner of the parking lot. We had a phenomenal burger and beer and headed in to the game to watch the Stampeders annihilate the Bombers. It was a beautiful night for football and we even got a visit in with Uncle Neil and his buddy Norm.
We stayed for the fireworks until almost midnight and arrived home closer to 1! What a full day! Great way to kick off the summer and Canada Day!
