Sunday July 3rd

Sunday July 3rd

It doesn't seem to matter what time I get to bed as my brain always feels the need to get up early in the morning regardless. It was a fantastic evening last night and another busy day I waited us I got up and loaded the boat with everything we needed for the day. We go to everyone moving and headed south by 10 AM and headed for little bow reservoir to go boating. There was an extremely strong Southwind which would prove to be problematic once we arrived and tried to launch the boat. The Cuzzetto family of Rick, Michelle, and Ryan met us there. They had just moved back to Calgary from Winnipeg earlier that month and it was great to catch up with them and spend the day together out on the water.
Launching the boat was a little tricky because when I was backing it up the motor stalled and the wind began to blow us towards another part boat. When I went to start the boat there was not enough battery power to turn it over and I have to quickly run to the front of the boat and use my legs to prevent my boat from slamming into another. Rather than them holding onto my boat, he just pushed me back out into the lake as the wind started pushing me across the lake in there I was with low battery power to start the engine. Rather than panic, I quickly lifted up the motor cover and attached battery cables to my extra battery I had brought with me and suddenly I had immediate power. I started the motor and put it in gear and quickly return to the doc to park the boat unbeknownst to Krista who was parking the trailer and boat in the parking lot. What an ordeal!
We carefully and safely loaded all the materials onto the boat and off we went for a cruise around the reservoir. We eventually made our way to the Cove on the South shore and tried to get our anchor hooked so we could eat lunch and go for a swim. The wind was incredibly strong and kept moving us so we had to move the boat every 10 minutes to a new location before it would start blowing us northward again. We had a nice lunch and broke out the fishing rods and the boys proceeded to catch six Pickrell and the same crawfish three times by Jacob.
We inflated our new three-person tube and dragged the boys around the lake while the wind whipped up a spray repeatedly soaking them. Despite the wind it was a beautiful warm sunny day and we had a great afternoon before packing up after 4 PM and returning to Calgary for supper.
Kasia and Nick joined us for hamburgers as they have been out on the boat all day going through some of Noella's locker storage boxes and deciding what to keep, donate or sell. We watched a couple of TV shows and colder tonight at 9:30 as we were all pretty exhausted from a busy weekend and being outdoors most of the weekend. Super heavy storm blew through our community between 11 and midnight and rained almost the finance with thunder booms every several minutes of which I completely slept through for the first time in forever. Apparently I was pretty tired. Another exceptional summer day and great adventures and memories were shared.
