Awoke to another beautiful sunny morning here in Calgary Alberta. I did a bunch of work on the computer and organized the house and garage a little bit before packing things up to head north of Cross Iron Mills mall to play Carl and Ollies 35th wedding anniversary! I had to stop and run a few errands along the way but arrived at 2 PM and we set up all the band gear outside facing the fire pits and outdoor tents where we had played for Brian and Brittany's wedding just five years ago to the day. It was sunny with a nice light breeze and we began entertaining guests from 330 to 5:30 PM. People had come from miles around to help Carl and Ollie celebrate the spectacular occasion.
We took a break and enjoyed the most incredible Ukrainian meal you can possibly imagine with several types of perogies, cabbage rolls, ham, roast beef, chicken, vegetables, fruit platters and desserts as far as the eye can see. I have never ever needed a nap so badly after consuming all of that food.
We started back up again after supper and played two or three sets of music until almost midnight. People enjoyed some dancing once it got dark and then suddenly didn't want us to stop or leave! We had a nice midnight lunch snack and headed home around 1 a.m. - and got to sleep about two. Another fantastic day of summer 2016 with amazing memories and great laughs with so many wonderful people and a great band! Just simply awesome.
